Used 1972 Lotus Elan s130 for sale in Sarasota, FL

This 1972 Lotus Elan Plus 2 S130 was sold new in California and spent time in Washington, Michigan and now garaged in Florida. The previous owner was an engineer who maintained the car himself prior to putting it into storage for seven years. The big-valve 1,558cc twin-cam four and 4-speed manual transmission was rebuilt by a previous owner, and a Spydercars U-jointed rear axle conversion has been performed. The seller commissioned an engine-out servicfrom the selle six months ago, which included the installation of a new clutch, main seal, and fluids. This Elan Plus 2 is now being sold with receipts, spare parts, an original jack, wheel nut removal tool, tool kit, owner's manual, and a clean Michigan title.
The Cirrus White paint was applied in the 1980s and is said to be presentable with some minor scrapes, chips. Car has 13” pin-drive alloy wheels.
Inside, the factory-correct black vinyl seats are fitted with textured inserts. A Momo steering wheel has been added along with aftermarket speakers in the door panels, though the stereo has been removed and replaced with a blanking plate.

The 1558cc twin-cam four features a big-valve head with larger-diameter inlet valves, and it is coupled with a 4-speed manual gearbox. Both the engine and transmission were rebuilt at some point, and a compression test performed in 2016 was ~175 psi across all four cylinders. The twin brake boosters were rebuilt and cadmium-plated at the time of the engine rebuild. An engine-out service performed 2 years ago at a cost of $3,700 included a new clutch, main seal, various other seals, and a full fluid service.
A rear axle kit from Spydercars eliminates the outboard Rotoflex coupling and replaces it with a U-joint. Spare brake rotors, pads, window switches, and Rotoflex couplings are included in the sale. As of 4/22/21 new tires, electrical lotus gremlins addressed, basic maintenance and carb sync was performed at Lotus Shop in Sarasota. Over $3600 in receipts this year to bring the car current.
