The Oldsmobile Cutlass convertible was already a great-looking car, and the 442 package added a touch of aggression to its straight-laced style. In fact, this one does it exactly right by adding the polished Torq Thrust wheels and with larger 17-inch size. Proper 442 tri-color badging and louvered hood add to the performance attitude. This one was even upgraded from white to a sporty red later in life. The chrome bumpers have the added shine of investment, and the way the rocker trim follows the car's full form was a touch of Olds elegance. So we are not only happy to see the crisp black vinyl roof, but with the flip of a switch, it disappears to also reveal an eye-catching full black interior. There's plenty of room for family and friends across two wide benches, but the driver is truly the king. That's why you have a fold-down armrest for true individual comfort. This has a ton of terrific vintage details, like the working courtesy lights, three-spoke Olds steering wheel, and the classic AM/FM radio that's there for display. But because this is a true driver's classic they cleanly installed under the dash an AM/FM/CD stereo with USB input. That way you get to choose the best driving music for this 442.
Under the hood is exactly what you want to see. The 400 cubic-inch V8 is an era-correct powerhouse that looks exceptionally stock. So you can love it for a survivor-like presentation or give the 442 air grabber a nice polish to really make it pop. Underneath that is an upgraded four-barrel carburetor w/electric choke. The power makes a terrific rumble as it exits out of the dual exhaust (Yes.400 cubic inches, four-barrel carburetor, and dual exhaust: the namesake of the 1967 Oldsmobile 4-4-2.) Plus, features like the stout TH400 three-speed automatic transmission, power steering, power brakes, front discs, and grippy modern tires keep this big motor classic in the confident cruiser category.
