Bought this in Erie , PA 6 months ago - drove it back to Nebraska 1000 miles - have been driving it practically daily / weekly hauling stuff - went to a VW Car show. Cold Ac - Great Heat / heated seats.
I put in newer GTI seats and Airbag light is on. Check engine light is on for 02 sensor. Had a stored code for transmission which mentioned Mass air flow sensor. But the trans has it own issues.
When cold - like outside - Transmission is VERY ANGRY. My mechanic has suggested it it the Torque convertor ( i have a good used one ) It will stall / shake and be mad. If you let it idle for awhile and warm up... the transmission works - has a 2/3 gear upshift like most of these. Previous owner did Solenoids a year ago? I happen to have a good 09a 5 speed Transmission removed from a low mileage GTI that is INCLUDED if you wanna fix it eventually. As i mentioned - i would hop in and drive this ANYWHERE - once the transmission is warmed up.
The body is nice - it has bondo / filler cracks around edges like most of these have after being driven awhile. I love it. ( i bought a TDI 5 speed UTE , only reason i am selling this one )
The exhaust is loud and " cobbled " together. I have an ebay 3" turbo back exhaust - not installed but included.
$7000 - NOT firm - but if you want to negotiate do it in PERSON. I am no opposed to keeping my Alpine - or even swapping out the nice headlights for some STOCK ones to lower the price.
I have a Nebraska title in hand.
