Yes, it may sound crazy, $40K for an S2000 in pieces, but read on and look at what you’re really getting for the price. There’s more than meets the eye. You need to look further than just scanning pictures and read this posting.

This is a ONE OWNER garage kept 2000 S2000 which had 114,625 miles on it before the build. Now that it has a brand new engine (except for the outside of the valve cover), the engine has 0 miles on it. It has been tested on the engine dyno at Comptech Racing Engines in Sacramento, Ca. Where it was built by Tony, the man responsible for building all of Comptech’s award winning race engines.

The engine was tuned on the dyno by Shad who was the former head of product development for Comptech and Owner of Driving Ambition. After tuning the motor on 93 octane it produced 528 hp….and it’s the F20 4 cylinder that originally came with the car, but the engine now has over $15K worth of parts and labor into it. The engine was completely torn down and custom built to Comptech’s race specs, but with a twist. We had Brian Crower of BC build a stroker kit for this engine, so it’s no longer a 2.0 liter, it’s a 2.47 liter engine. The block was machined and Darton MID sleeves were installed with the BC stroker kit. Tony did some precision machining work on the head and block so they fit together tightly with the head gasket. The head was completely stripped as well and Tony did a competition valve job on it. This also included machining grooves in the back of the oversized Ferrera Comp Plus valves and the valve seats so they are precision fit when closed. This was a job he didn’t bill me for, so it’s not on the list in the pictures. He then proceeded to bore out the throttle body to 65mm and built a new butterfly. The intake was also ported. 750cc RC injectors were added along with many other things which you can read in the write ups on the Facebook pictures and see in the list of parts and labor in the pictures. We also redesigned and machined the back of a Paxton NOVI 1500 Supercharger which now fits perfectly on the Comptech (CT) supercharger bracket. Yes we took a V8 super charger and made it work on a 4 cylinder and it made a world of difference over the NOVI 1200 which was normally used in the Comptech supercharger kits. Over 500 HP of instant power…..in a car that weight a little over 2,000 lbs. :)

The transmission has also been rebuilt and has 0 miles on it since the rebuild.

The body is completely stock except for the engine bay. We designed filler plates for the engine bay in CAD, cut them out on a water jet and welded them into place, so we could shave the engine bay. All of the Body wiring was relocated and most of it was routed through the unibody and frame in order to hide it and protect it. Me and my staff did all of the wiring rerouting, so I oversaw every detail. Any wires that needed extended were soldered and heat shrinked. My company is well known for high quality wiring work. Many people who have seen the car being built have said: “the wiring is the most professional job I’ve ever seen. “ You can read more details on what we did and the expensive materials we used in the Facebook pictures. The exterior panels are in very good condition and there is no rust anywhere on the car. It was garage kept its entire life. In the pictures you’ll notice we sprayed the entire front end sheet metal in undercoating after welding and grinding the modified areas. This is to protect the car from rust. We also added a rust prevention coating inside the frame and aprons to cover the inside of the metal we welded to.

Almost all of the parts are brand new. Every suspension arm and bushing mount is a Brand NEW Honda part which we media blasted and sprayed with an industrial grade ceramic aluminum paint to give them an aluminum look and prevent them from ever rusting. The coating is hard enough that hitting it with a hammer will not crack it. This same ceramic paint was used on the subframes which were also blasted and painted. You can see these parts in the pictures. There are only two parts not included in the sale of the car that are shown in the pictures. Those parts are the rear differential and Comptech subframe brace. You’ll need to get a rear diff or you can buy one from my company after you buy the car. The Comptech brace has been replaced by the Cusco brace which works better with the other Cusco braces, since they were designed to work together.

You’ll also notice in the pictures that all of the hardware for each component is neatly organized in labeled bags along with exploded views for each part showing where all of the hardware goes. There are even Honda Service Procedure printouts included. Any Mechanic or Fabricator could put this car together since it’s like a life-sized model car with directions
Now for the million dollar question:
Why would a shop go this far on such an amazing one-off build and decide to sell it?
Here what happened: Two years ago we were forced to move our main facility due to the passing of our industrial complex’s owner and subsequent sale to a land developer. At the time, we had too many projects to finish before moving out of the facility, so we I had to sacrifice finishing this one and I was pressured into selling it. I posted it on Facebook and had some serious buyers make good offers on it, but I just couldn’t bring myself to sell it. Too much time and effort went into getting the car to this point and it just needs put back together. After deciding not to sell it, we built the cart its sitting on and stuck it in storage. I figured we would finish it in our spare time after everything was settled. Now that two years has passed and I have been so extremely busy that I forgot about the car. I’m now realizing, I’ll never have the available time needed to finish it, so it’s best that I sell it to someone who appreciates the work and will finish the car. All I ask is that I can drive it once after it’s finished.
