Vehicle Description
This example is one of 1,024 Carrera MFIs built in 1974 and is car number 422. The Carrera MFI is largely regarded as one of the most collectible G-body Porsche cars you can own. They are essentially a continuation 1973 Carrera RS built on a G-body that shares the same 911/83 RS engine and 915 transaxle. The Carrera MFI slightly outperforms the Carrera RS 2.7 with a more rigid tub and the same curb weight as a Carrera RS 2.7 Touring.
The car was imported to the United States in 2012, where it has remained. CPR Classic has last offered this example in 2018. The car has spent the last two years in the hands of a Los Angeles-based enthusiast.
Upon arrival at CPR Classic in May of 2020, this MFI underwent extensive preparation and reconditioning. The paint received a meticulous correction to the highest of standards, and CPR is currently in the process of restoring the undercarriage to include new undercoating, plating work, and fresh paint on the bottom of the tub. The Midnight Blue and Black interior received a thorough detail, and new door pocket lids and a carpet kit are being installed. Keen eyes may notice the door panels and knee bolsters are a very dark shade of blue from the factory.
This Carrera MFI is well-documented: included is the car's Certificate of Authenticity, all importation documentation, and its most recent service history. In early 2020, over $32,000 was spent on suspension work and a major engine service at Workshop 5001 in Los Angeles, CA.
The Carrera MFI is a spectacular car that has become very collectible in today's Porsche market. It is an excellent and appreciating alternative to the 1973 Carrera RS 2.7 cars, which regularly trade today for $700,000+.
