The bullet-nose birds are a true styling marvel. These third-generation cars had awesome styling touches. It includes the crisp trim line that starts in front of the headlights, runs the full length of the body (expertly integrating the door handles,) and not stopping until it reaches the afterburner-style taillights. Plus, you have real wire wheels, a distinct grille, hood scoop trim, and a shining chrome front bumper that's an integral part of the styling. Because this is a T-Bird for the bold, it was also upgraded to bold red paint later in life. It still gives off quite a nice shine today that loves to highlight the sharp angles of the super-straight body.
The black roof is a newer update, and so it has a nice style that has a tasteful contrast against the red. And if you like the way this looks, you'll be happy to get the same appealing combo with the top down. In fact, since there was a recent investment in the upholstery and dash pad, we imagine you'll really want to share this with the world. It's not a full sea of darkness, because these Thunderbirds also come with a terrific wraparound bright trim package that encapsulates you and even helps form the center console. There are great classic features, like the stylish/grippy steering wheel and artful full gauge package with working clock. And there are well-integrated upgrades, like the retro-style AM/FM digital tuner. You also get power windows and a power convertible top, which will need service to work properly, so that you never have to leave the driver's seat to go from enclosed comfort to a wind-in-your-hair-experience. But since this car is for the bold, you may want to take a little extra time setting up your top-down style. This one comes with a hard tonneu cover to give it a similar profile to the ultra-rare Sports Roadster whenever you want.
The engine bay has a tidy appearance for Ford's large 390 cubic-inch V8. At first glance it looks quite vintage with the big and correct air grabber on top. But as you dig a little deeper, you'll discover a Holley four-barrel carburetor, Edelbrock intake, a new distributor, new alternator, a new master cylinder, and plenty more investments in power and reliability. So the big V8 fires up nicely with an authoritative hum out of the dual exhaust that seems perfect for this mature T-Bird. The three-speed automatic transmission, power steering, and power brakes all work in harmony to help keep the ride Thunderbird-level luxurious.
