1949 Mercury Custom Coupe This mildly customized Mercury turns the calendar back to the '50s. Nosed and decked, with the iconic visor and fender skirts, this flawless body still rides on the original rust free Mercury frame, and it has not been dropped or chopped. This magnificent car cannot be described in a few paragraphs. The deep Mediterranean blue metallic paint seems perfect for this nostalgic ride. Steel skirts grace the rear wheel openings, and the trunk lid is operated by an electric popper in the glove compartment. This is a very reliable, easy-to-drive ride that is not a low and slow parade car, but a modern freeway cruiser that could be used as an every day driver. It features power steering and power disk brakes to make it as safe as it is good looking. You can walk around this car as much as you like and you won't find any major flaws. And the beauty is not just skin deep. Slide inside this ride and you will find big, comfortable two tone vinyl seats, a flawless headliner and lush carpets with no wear. The coveted 49 Mercury dash escaped scavengers to remain intact, and an updated 12 volt electrical system and gauges provide the vital engine statistics. The trunk is upholstered in the same vinyl materials as the interior and is operating room clean. The steering column supports a banjo steering wheel, and the coupe has a top shelf AM/FM/CD sound system and Vintage air conditioning and heat. Under the hood, a strong 350 CID Oldsmobile V8 provides the motive power. It is hooked to a TH350 automatic transmission and 10 bolt GM rear end running 3.50:1 gears. It has a great rumble to the exhaust, and wide whites put the rubber to the road. Of course, everybody's favorite Lancer spinner hubcaps are just right for this Merc. In short, it is powerful, economical, maneuverable, and magical. There is not a square inch of this machine that has been neglected in making it one of the nicest cruisers you will ever find.
