The current owner an eclectic collector bought this vehicle at an classic car auction in 2019; this vehicle was one of dozens of classics that a mega-collector was selling from his huge collection. Its complete with steel frame and window bars custom rear folding step chrome stone guard rear prisoner benches and floor-mounted shackles. Ensuring the job can get done a Tommy Gun sits in a steel holder within easy reach of the driver or passenger much like the oak Billy Club mounted nearby. Red lights and a Sireno siren alert everyone nearby that the coppers are on their way. Two clipboards hang in the cab reminding officers to BOLO for Al Capone and Baby Face Nelson. What a fun truck this is the hit of any car show or cruise-in for sure. Two schools of thought surround the origins of the term Paddy Wagon. The first came about in Lower Manhattan with the New York City Draft Riots of 1863 when working-class men mostly Irish or of Irish descent protested the recent laws passed by Congress to induct men to fight in the Civil War. The protests turned violent as emotions quickly raged out of control and became a more complex race riot with anti-draft undertones. While largely overwhelmed police and military worked to contain the crowds and one of the tools at hand was the Paddy Wagon named because so many Irish men were hauled away in them.
