Built in 2016 by Union Speed & Style in Osseo, MN, this Model A was a winner at the 2017 Grand Nation Roadster Show and won a Top Ten Builders Choice Award at Good Guys in November of 2020. Those that know will immediately notice the attention to detail and quality that puts this build above most others. From the nickel-plated hardware to the Rick Schnell-built 59A flathead, "old school" is less a theme than a way of life with this rod. Dual Strombergs are mounted on a Thickstun manifold and there's also a rare & desirable Thickstun air cleaner. An Isky cam opens the valves and there's a Powergen 12 volt alternator disguised as a period-correct generator to keep everything sparking along. Gear changes are accomplished w/a Tremec T5 5-speed manual gearbox and the differential features a 40 Ford housing with 3.78 gears and Hot Rod Works internals.
The all steel body is by Brookville with custom modifications to the cowl to fit a pinched frame that's trimmed & folded to fit the body channel. The hand-formed, 3-piece aluminum hood features a cut out for the air cleaner with louvered sides secured by Dzus fasteners. There's an aircraft-style fuel filler and a shortened & reshaped Model A radiator shell with a custom fabricated floor allowing the seat to be moved back 2.5". The two stage PPG paint is in Dark Brewster green with pinstripe accents by Jeremy Pedersen.
Tuck & rolled seating surfaces are covered in supple, Italian leather and include Hooker four point harnesses for both driver & passenger. Pertinent information is conveyed via Classic Instruments gauges and there's a Schroeder 4-spoke steering wheel with quick release hub for easy entry & exit.
From the custom leather fuel tank straps and battery cover to the uniquely fabricated rear view mirror, this build is exemplary in every way and is a shining example of what an old school hot rod should be. Currently in climate-controlled storage at The Stables in N. Scottsdale, it is available for inspection M-F during business or otherwise by appointment.
