In 1963, Pontiac was producing the iconic Grand Prix, typically with a 389 cubic-inch V8, and a 3-speed automatic transmission however there was a special option package, called the Super Duty", with a 421 cubic-inch High Output V8 with 405hp, a Borg Warner T-10 4-speed manual transmission, and Posi-Traction.
Between 1962 and 1963, a total of only 15 of these examples were built, and generally fetch prices in the $400,000 range.
We are proud to offer this 1963 Grand Prix , a recreation tribute to the Super Duty, with a 421 believed to have been harvested from an original Super Duty. It features working factory air conditioning, power steering and power brakes, power windows, 8-lug wheels and the Super Duty-specific side-mounted tachometer.
This particular vehicle has an extensive and well-documented history, and detailed repair paperwork. It has been featured in Hot Rod Magazine, High Performance Pontiac Magazine, and was sold at Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale in 2009. It has recently been further restored with new oil gaskets, rear main seal, steering gearbox, fuel pump, A/C hoses and A/C recharge, and a nearly rebuilt transmission.
The car runs and drives perfectly. It is finished in the factory-correct paint of Cameo White, and a very well-preserved and nearly original interior.
