Used 2010 Ford Escape - Lots of New Parts - Needs Engine Work - cars & for sale in Albion, ME
Vehicle Description
The Good: Other than the typical wheel well rust on one side (as shown in photo), the rest of the body, paint, frame are good. Inspection just ran out.
Tons of new additions:
New windshield from safelite.
New all season tires.
New Interstate Battery
New Exhaust (Intermediary to muffler)
New Brakes
Ball Joints recently replaced.
Steering Column recently replaced (sensor fault on the other one)
New wiper blades
The Bad:
Once I put all of those shiney new parts on, I took off down the road one day after. Just after driveway it stalled out. I pushed it back to the parking spot in my driveway.
When you start it, it has a tapping sound.
From my research it seems more likely that the timing belt tensioner needs replacing. This would cause the timing belt to slap against the timing cover. In the event it's not that, it may be a thrown rod bearing. I'm betting it's the tensioner, BUT I'm selling this vehicle AS IS, WHERE IS.
The tensioner is a $60 part.
Worst case, a replacement engine is approximate $500 used if you were to buy it from a salvage yard. It's a very common engine used in multiple ford vehicles.
The rear wiper motor does not work. When the motor failed, it ran the battery down. I replaced the battery and disabled the rear wiper via fuse.
CLEAN TITLE.
If you're handy with these ford engines, this should be straightforward. I'd like to work on it and run it for another few years but I don't have the time.
Buyer will need to tow/haul the vehicle.
