This Jetta was my daily driver until the turbine went on the turbo about a year ago and I got a new car. I had originally planned to repair and continue driving it but as so often happens life gets in the way and I never had time.
I am the second owner and purchased the car around 80K miles back in 2013. I used to commute to Southborough, MA from Norwich, CT which ended up racking up a ton of highway miles. The oil has been changed regularly and I have checked and replaced the high pressure fuel pump cam follower every 40K miles or so. Timing belt was done at 120K, it is due to be changed again. The car is chipped to Unitronic Stage 1+, 93 octane and is pretty quick. Very fun to drive.
Known issues:
Blown PCV - have part
Failing CV axle drivers side
Drivers side wheel speed sensor needs replacing
Blower motor for AC/heat is not working
Blown turbo - I have another turbo with a failed wastegate actuator rod that can likely be swapped
Brakes are crusty and dragging from sitting for a year
Battery is dead
The oil-driven cam chain tensioner on the drivers side of the engine is noisy before oil pressure builds (this is after sitting for awhile, does not happen when run regularly) - I suggest checking it out when replacing the turbo. I originally replaced this
Trunk lid struts are on the way out, one is disconnected

New shocks and struts all around in 2017
New VWR Sport Springs installed in 2017
ECS tuning front and rear suspension refresh kits - partially installed in 2017
ECS dogbone mount insert kit installed in 2017
Drivers rear wheel bearing replaced in 2019
BFI transmission mount insert installed in 2017
Neuspeed P-Flo intake - rubber in mount has rotted
Spare parts:
GTI MK5 rear calipers and brackets
282mm slotted cross drilled rear rotors for use with GTI calipers (need to remove the rear dust shield to install)
Hawk HPS rear pads
Spare K03 turbo with siezed wastegate actuator rod
PCV
Oil filter
All in all a solid car. I would have driven it for many more miles had the turbo not failed. It would make a good project and/or first car for someone. I'm moving from Portland and would like to not have to take the Jetta with me. Keep in mind the brakes are dragging from corrosion, I would not drive the car very far or for long periods of time until this is addressed. Car runs and drives otherwise aside from the rattling of the blown turbine.
