Vehicle Description
We can assure you that much research was done in the creation of this future skoolie, and we have selected an ideal drivetrain for cruising the highways, chillin’ on a backroad, or climbing mountains. And if you are concerned about winter weather, this bus comes with built-in, on-the-fly snow chains. So with the push of a button, hydraulic arms below the bus will drop down and spin chains under the tires, with you only needing to lift one finger.
This 2007 International is equipped with a Navistar DT 7.6L inline-6 turbocharged diesel engine, coupled with an Allsion MD3060 5-speed push-button transmission. The engine and transmission are positioned at the rear of the bus (a “pusher” configuration), keeping the noise far from the cruising cabin, as well as leaving room between the front and rear wheels under the bus for the fabrication of underbelly storage if desired. This particular Allison transmission is capable of gaining a 6th gear if unlocked by an Allison technician, allowing the bus to cruise at faster highway speeds, while maintaining a lower RPM, and boosting your fuel economy.
This 40-foot bus has approximately 285 square feet of liveable space, NOT including the entry stairs and the driver’s area. And with the high ceilings, a lofted bed can be installed over the cockpit for additional square footage and sleeping space. In addition to the photos, we have included a sample floor plan so you can get a feel for the interior dimensions. As you can tell, we have provided a lot of window area for an abundance of natural light and the ability to take in any view. Currently, the original bus windows are installed temporarily. The window bays are sized to receive standard residential windows, or with some extra modification, you could install RV windows.
We have done the painstaking work of gutting the interior, raising the roof, and installing the metal side panels. Now all that’s left to do is the fun part.
