2004 Ford Ranger XL base truck with 134,500 miles. 16 valve 143hp 2.3 4 cylinder engine designed by Mazda. 5 speed manual transmission. 2 wheel drive. 4 wheel ABS (anti lock brakes). Manual windows, manual locks, manual mirrors, no cruise control, no satellite or anything fancy. Has AM/FM radio, vinyl seats, base plastic floor. Dual front air bags which were both replaced under recall in August 2021.

30 mpg highway going 60mph.
27 mpg highway going 70mph.
19-21 mpg in town.

Options: factory air conditioning, 7 foot long bed and heavy duty payload. The standard Ranger bed was 6 feet long.

I replaced the original ugly 15” steel teardrop hole wheels with Ford Ranger 15” steel 7 spoke wheels. The tires on it are Goodyear Eagle GT+4’s with about 15,000 miles on them. Wear varies from front tires to the rears.
I have two more same type 7 spoke wheels with some older 215-75-15 BF Goodrich All Terrain T/A’s on them but they have some cracks between the treads. I can include two more matching 7 spoke wheels without tires on them so you can have two sets of wheels.

Body is very good aside from some rust on the inside lower seam in the doors that I put POR on 7 years ago. Lower door rust isn’t visible on the outside. The bed has some pain flaked off of it with some surface rust in a few places but no rust holes. No rust on the fenders. To the best of my knowledge it hasn’t been in an accident. I haven’t had a single ding happen to it, deer hit, or damage to a headlight, taillight, bumper or anything like that while I’ve owned it since July 2007. I believe I’m the 2nd owner. It has a clear title with no liens or rebuilt or salvage noted on the title. Title in my bedroom safe very easy for me to get to. Non smoker, non drinker, not a drug user, no animal smells. Not driven in the winter from 2012 to until a little bit this winter.

Service and repairs:
November 2021 at around 134,300 miles: ac checked for leaks and not found, ac recharged, 2 of the 4 parking brake cables replaced, 2 rear wheel studs replaced, rear brake hardware replaced, both upper front suspension A arms replaced along with the installation of an aftermarket upper camber kit which I highly recommend. Front end alignment. Total was over $1,700 which I have the receipt for.

August 2021: new Napa fuel pump, new Walmart Maxx59 battery and both air bags replaced under recall.

At 130,000 miles: brand new clutch kit, pilot bearing, flywheel surfaced, hydraulic clutch master cylinder replaced, original transmission replaced with a slightly used transmission with just 3,500 miles.

At 125,000 miles: new Napa lower ball joints and outer tie rods along with an Oriellys new inner tie rods and a rebuilt power steering rack. New Napa both rear parking brake cables, rear brake shoes and brake wheel cylinders.

Prior repairs:
At ? miles a new Napa water pump.
At ? miles a rebuilt Napa alternator.
At about 70,000 to 75,000 miles new Napa front brake calipers.
At ? Oriellys a new MAP sensor

I bought it in July 2007 with around 63,000 to 64,000 miles from Shell Rock Ford in Shell Rock Iowa.

Negatives: some bed floor rust but no rust holes, heater fan only works on speed #4 which means it needs a blower motor resistor and I have that part but it hasn’t been installed as of this posting on January 15th 2022. Stock size Goodyear Eagle GT+4 tires will probably need replacement before the end of 2022 if you drive an average number of miles per year.
