Used 2003 Toyota Matrix 5 door hatchback for sale in Watertown, MA

Base model Toyota Matrix with about 183,500 miles. It runs and handles great as it’s always been taken care of and maintained. I bought it in March of 2018 and am only the second owner. When I bought it there were 163,000 miles so I’ve put on about 20,000 miles in a little over 3 years. It’s been a great car but is time for me to get something bigger.

MAINTENANCE AND UPGRADES
Since buying the car I’ve had some work done to it and listed its history since I’ve had it below. Receipts for all of of the services have been saved. I also have the CarFax report from when the original owner had it where it looks like they had it regularly serviced at Toyota dealerships.
- Pioneer stereo with Bluetooth and line in jack installed in April 2018
- 2 front headlight assemblies replaced in April 2018
- 2 struts replaced in October 2018
- Catalytic converter replaced in October 2018
- Airbag replaced due to recall in September 2019
- Tune up and drive belt replaced in January of 2020
- 4 new tires in January of 2020
- 2 rear hub bearing assemblies replaced in July of 2020
- Rear brake shoes and drums replaced in September of 2020
- Windshield replaced in late 2020
- Battery replaced in January 2021
- Last oil change in March 2021
- Tune up, air flow sensor and air filter replaced in May 2021

KNOWN ISSUES
Nothing is in need of repair but there are a few small issues that I know of that I haven’t addressed.
- Ever since I had the rear hubs replaced the rear brakes make a squeaking noise when coming to a stop. Sometimes it’s not noticeable, sometimes it can be louder such as when it rains. The brakes are not bad and are not in need of any repair. I had a mechanic look at this and he replaced the drums and shoes twice but he couldn’t find any actual issue.
- The hatchback needs a little help to open all the way. When you open it there are some lifts that push it open but it doesn’t go all the way up on its own. It hasn’t bothered me enough to replace the lifts which would cost around $50 for the pair.
- The front windows can be a little tough to roll down when it’s cold out. I’m not sure why but the track inside the doors might need to be greased. It hasn’t bothered me enough to try fixing.
- There is a small amount of rust right under the driver’s side doors as seen in the photos. There is no hole forming from the rust.
- There are minor dings and scratches inside and outside but nothing cosmetic that is in need of repair.

SALE
This car is selling as-is with no warranty or guarantee on its longevity. A return will not be accepted and this car does not qualify for the Massachusetts Lemon Law due to its mileage. All of the problems that I know of and the current condition have been described above.

TITLE
Note that the Title says it’s an XR trim but I think that’s incorrect and that it’s just the base model which is what the price / KBB value reflects. The XR model has a few upgrades that this car doesn’t seem to have.
