Used 2001 Tahoe LS 5.3 2wd for sale in Lincoln Park, MI

Up for your consideration is a 2001 Chevy Tahoe LS 5.3 2WD

Here are the facts…

The Good:

* Healthy 5.3 LS V8 with 111k miles, runs strong, no leaks. Transmission shifts/performs great

*With the exception of a quarter sized rust hole behind passenger rear door, there is virtually no rust on the body (not bad for 18 years in Michigan)

*Newer Tahoe 20” LTZ wheels with Goodyear tires, 2 years old, 80% tread remaining (rims not perfect, but in decent shape)

*Pioneer AVIC-8100NEX Navigation head unit + upgraded door speakers + single 12” sub = Kick ass sound system for all types of music! (approx. cost $1400+)

*Heat and A/C work great!

*Has trailer hitch and hook ups for your trailer or boat! (I installed trailer hitch to protect against tailgaters / dingbats. Never towed anything with this vehicle)

*Has towing package with 3:55 gear and limited slip diff that works well in snow

*No rips or burns in the interior

*Has the more useful flip-up tailgate with rear glass that can be opened to accommodate large cargo (The “barn door” models are much less practical in my opinion)

*4 new Bilstein shocks/struts in mid 2016

*Front & rear EBC brake rotors and pads (2017)

*New battery, power steering pump, and starter, battery (2019)

*Amsoil synthetic oil used since ownership, previous owner also used synthetic oil

*Factory stainless steel exhaust (Never will rot out!)

*Receipts for many parts and service done to vehicle

*Spare set of winter rims and tires if you want them (These have snow tires on them right now, but they are pretty worn out.)

*Bully Bar installed this summer. Looks good and has holes (rubber plugs in them now) for additional lights to be mounted on the bar. (I think people think I’m the cops at night because of it! Lol)

The Bad:

*Gas tank “vent pipe” missing

The previous owner had the fuel pump and fuel filter replaced. The boneheads that did it forgot to put the vent pipe back on. This causes 2 things:
1. If you fill gas tank more than a tick past ½, there is a SLIGHT odor of gasoline outside the vehicle. You
CANNOT smell it from inside.
2. It occasionally causes a Check Engine Light. I hate looking at it so I clear it with a $20 Bluetooth OBD
scanner I got off Amazon. I will gladly scan it in front of you to show there are no other codes, just the emissions code. My mechanic told me it’s not a difficult fix, but does require dropping the gas tank. It never bothered me enough to pursue fixing it.

*Rust hole behind passenger back door (see pic)
Not terribly big and it’s nice that it’s hidden behind the door when closed. Planned on doing a little Bondo and some paint to take care of it this summer, but never found the time to address it : /

* Paint
This was painted Black (from the original pewter) by Macco by P.O. roughly 8 years ago. It’s starting to show its age and a few spots have flaked.

*Driver’s Door switch doesn’t work
What this means is the truck thinks the door is always shut. This is annoying because radio is supposed to turn off when you open the door, but because of this, it doesn’t. I simply open the back door an inch to turn off the radio. Vehicle cuts all power automatically after 20 mins after key removal also.
The internet states that the door latch can be cleaned (switch not working because its stuck) and it will work again. Haven’t had time to look into it…

*Driver side rear door handle broke
It is the pivot point that broke. Handle STILL OPENS DOOR like normal.
I do have a new handle assembly that will be included in the sale!

*Headlight out
P.O. installed a HID headlight system, which I’ve never had any problems with up till a month ago when headlight went out. I do have a spare ballast, bulb, and igniter that most likely will remedy the problem. If you don’t wanna deal with the HID system, it can be converted back to regular lights for about $24 + bulbs according to a guy at Autozone (just need 2 x $12 bulb sockets, which I was considering doing, but working 50 – 60 hrs a week on a swing shift hasn’t permitted me the time)

“It’s not a 4x4”
This bothered me at first. Then I realized that 354 out of 364 days a year it’s not needed! For a 2wd vehicle, this thing goes damn well in the snow. It’s a heavy vehicle that barges through anything with both back wheels pushin. The extra 1 MPG city/highway and less maintenance vs the 4x4 are also a plus.

That is about the gist of it. She has plenty of life left in her, and will serve her new owner well. These older Tahoes are getting hard to find without a billion miles on them, and usually they are beat to piss/crashed up/filthy I’ve noticed. Remember folks, you get what you pay for!

Price is $5000 FIRM! Price reflects condition! Spare me your low-ball offers / haggling…I am a motivated seller but definitely NOT DESPERATE!!!

You can come look, but to test drive, I’m gonna need $5000 in my hand in case you wreck it on your test drive.
