Behold! A living testament to Toyota reliability. This 2000 Sienna has about 375,680 miles and can *probably* still handle more.

It was purchased new by my parents when we lived in Chicago. My sister and I both played on travel hockey teams so the van served to drive us to hockey tournaments all over Chicago and the surrounding states. We also regularly drove to Florida for vacations so a lot of the miles on it are from highway driving.

My dad is a commercial aircraft mechanic and has always done his own maintenance. I've provided pictures of the folder he kept with some receipts and parts diagram print outs as well as the maintenance log he kept. It's pretty much up to date on major maintenance. It's on its third timing belt...that and the water pump, idlers, power steering belt, and serpentine belt were done 8 years ago at 321k miles. I know he had the alternator rebuilt once, I think about ten years ago, and the starter was replaced about six years ago. Three years ago he replaced the tires, had the brake fluid and coolant changed, and had the front CV joints replaced.

My parents gave it to my wife and I about 2 years ago. They're living in Florida now so we drove the van up here from there and it handled the drive just fine. I drove the van occasionally for the first year we had it. We mainly used it to haul stuff and/or kids when necessary. When the registration came up to renew, I didn't register it because it had a cracked windshield, multiple CEL codes, and the ABS light was on so it wasn't going to pass inspection. It mostly sat for about a year with me driving it once a month around my neighborhood just to get the engine warmed up and keep the seals lubricated.

I finally got motivated to work on it over the summer and it just passed inspection a few weeks ago. I haven't renewed the registration because we've planned on selling it but you will have no problem getting it registered once the title is transferred to you.

As far as the issues I fixed:

Windshield: It was cracked and I had it replaced under my insurance.

ABS light: this light was on because the rear right ABS speed sensor ring fell out of the back of the wheel hub. I cleaned off the contact surfaces and affixed it in place with JB Weld's two part epoxy. It's holding strong as far as I can tell and no longer throws a light. I tested the ABS on a rainy day and it works fine.

Check engine codes: It threw 5 codes the last time the CEL was on: 0155, 0440, 0441, 0446, 0420. They're all emissions related but the only one I fixed was 0155 (front upstream O2 sensor). In the process, I also replaced the battery because it was no longer holding a charge. Since pulling the battery erased the CEL codes, I took a chance to have it inspected and it passed. I thought inspection shops won't pass people if any of the onboard systems don't show that they've completed their cycles but apparently not. However, once you've driven it long enough for the emissions system to complete a full cycle, it will trigger the codes again. It's had these codes for a long time. It doesn't affect how it drives and it still gets decent gas mileage but it definitely stinks. You could either fix those or just erase the codes when it comes time for its next inspection.

I also changed the oil and filter around the beginning of the summer.

Some of the other existing issues:

The A/C does not work. If you try to turn it on it will blow a fuse for the fan system. This has been going on for years. My dad diagnosed it and ruled out everything but the A/C compressor. He thinks there is a short in it. Fortunately, it's getting cool out. The fan system still works and the heat still blows hot.

It uses quite a bit of oil so you'll have to check it regularly and keep it topped off. When my wife and I drove it up from Florida, we drove about 600 miles during which I added about a quart and a half of oil. Surprisingly, it doesn't smoke at all. I don't believe it has any leaks either.

If you open the hood, you have to manually reset the latch or it won't catch when you close the hood. I can show you how to do that.

The power sliding door motor stopped working about 12 years ago. My dad pulled it out so both sliding doors are manual only.

When I was taking pictures of the ad, the driver's side sliding door handle broke when I went to open it. You can kind of push back into place and still use it. You'll have to be careful with the other door handles too. The plastic is just getting really brittle at this point in its life.

The rear drum brakes make a scraping noise if the car sits for awhile. It goes away once you start driving it. I think it's just a build up of surface rust that develops when it isn't driven.

Aside from the above issues, it will surprise you with how well it drives. It never hesitates to start up, it idles perfectly, the steering is still tight, the alignment is straight, it brakes well, and the transmission shifts as smooth as it ever has.

The body is in pretty good shape for the age. It's never been in an accident and has no major dents. The hood has plenty of rock chips that have mostly been touched up with paint. Some are starting to rust a little.

The interior is a little dirty, and I'm not going to clean it, but it's in pretty decent shape for how much use the car has had. Neither my parents or I are heavy people so the foam in the seats is still pretty firm and there's no significant rips or tears in the the fabric. I just realized when I was uploading pics that the rear bench seat looks like it's stained red. It's not...I had the hood up when I took that pic so it's just the light reflecting off of it.

You'll be more than welcome to test drive it and I encourage having a shop inspect it if you have any apprehensions about the condition of it. One of the pics has the VIN underlined in red so feel free to run a Carfax.

I will ask that, upon purchase, a bill of sale be signed accepting the car as is. It's had regular maintenance and I don't expect it to have any significant issues that would send it to the junkyard but let's be real, it's a 20 year old car that's been taken beyond what most people would consider its useful life. I can't predict what parts may fail, if any, and that's just something to be prepared for when buying a vehicle with mileage this high.
