Vehicle Description
Cons: The transmission is dying, it is bad enough that it now has trouble pulling and reverse is pretty much gone, cats are busted and throw codes every now and then, high mileage, interior's poor because it hada prior smoker owner (not me, it's gotten a lot better). You will need a new transmission (4L60E) or rebuild the one on there, and the cats will need replacing (but it still passed smog last registration). New Walker cats are about $500 from Summit, the rebuild kits for the 4L60's run $250 to "a lot." The Prior Owner put a Harbor Freight LED light on the roof, but never hooked it up.
Pros: It's the ZR-2, which in OK condition go for three times what I'm asking. They make great hunting trucks. Rhino bed liner, 4x4 works, has mud tires that look good, OE wheels. New front Powerstop drilled & slotted rotors and Hawk pads, it had brake electrical issues that I successfully fixed (new front driver sensor, repaired front passenger sensor wiring, and replaced the ABS computer), shocks are OK (Bilsteins), new front driver hub, new ignition system (Accel tuneup kit, with supercoil, plugs, wires, distributor cap and rotor), re-did the cooling (pump, hoses, reservoir, t-stat, took out the green coolant, flushed, and refilled with OE-spec Dexcool), fixed a bunch of wear items (3rd door handle, tailgate straps, turn signal relay, new battery, new battery wiring harness as the PO had hacked it up, new battery tray, PCV, pass side valve cover gasket, accessory belt and tensioner, matching lug nuts, oil service).
Other conditions: has an aftermarket head unit that works OK. Body is 6/10, has scratches and dings, surface rust around the bed where the PO had a rack or camper shell, and the tailgate was dinged by the PO backing into something (tailgate works fine).
I have a box of parts, including Hawk pads for the rear, for stuff I just haven't gotten to, included for no charge.
It's a project truck; it has potential if you want one of the old ZR-2's - it was the cool truck back when I was in high school. I just don't want to send it to U-Pull & Pay, would rather someone make good use of it. Clean title in hand, registration is current.
