But in hoping to get to that done before winter, I put a new battery in, and she started right up. Well, then it became apparent that more work was going to be needed (more on that below).
-The engine is rock solid and still purrs with no signs of clicking valves.
-The tires have less than 5000 miles on them.
-Interior upholstery is terrific.
-Many front end parts (brakes/rotors/CV shaft etc) were replaced also within that last 5000 miles.
-Clutch assembly was replaced probably 15-20k miles ago.
-And as I said, that engine is bulletproof.
But Michigan winters have taken their toll and the underside is showing it. I do have the trim panels for the sides and back wheel wells, though there's nothing to hold them on anymore. And as I said, I was waiting to get the fuel lines replaced, though I'm not sure exactly where the leak is (sender unit? It only leaks when the car is running). Oh, and the driver door handle (shown in pics) was a casualty of ice. It works from the outside but will need replacing. And finally, while she did start right up last week, something else (we're thinking either the alternator or A/C pulley) must have seized up, causing a smaller belt to fray and snap. So there's that.
As far as I know, everything else is fine. But again, I haven't been able to drive it in months. So, whether as a fixer-upper or for parts, I do think there's enough good in her to make it worth the effort. I just can't keep up at the moment, so it's time to let go.
Obviously, it'll need to be towed since it is not currently safe to drive.
