For Sale (as is): 1994 Volvo 850 Base-Level FWD, whom I call Vic

Engine: 20-valve 5-cylinder Inline 2.4-liter

Mileage: 198,248

Last MPG check yielded a 310 mile range on 15.6 gallons consumed – 19.9MPG. Early last summer I blasted Vic’s cylinders hot and I was getting about 20MPG after the clean. Nice to see the combustion is consistent and holding.
Vic was my daily driver for the last three years. Used mostly for a gentle commute to work, all highway, which was just long enough to fully circulate the oil :-)

Only two other previous owners (Mom and Grandma) and both kept vehicle perfectly maintained.
Power driver seat, power windows, power mirrors all work nicely. Instrument cluster all works except for RPM gauge. Got the AC recharged two summers ago. Radio works on and off at times - haven't had the time to take a peek at the ground or the wiring for a short. Newer battery. Complete spare wheel under trunk. Tread on tires will pass inspection but will not last more than a year.

Warning:
1. Original timing belt was replaced at ~80k miles but then never again was it replaced
2. Water pump is still original

Known Issues and its Respective Details:
1. Power steering shows resistance while cornering at high speeds – not surprising given its age. Seals are good and got its fluid flushed and replaced just this winter. Old fluid was not overly dirty. This produced no change in performance. Pump could use a pressure test.
2. Slow oil leak in rear main seal. First appeared late last fall. This leak has been slow enough to easily manage with leak-stop products and choosing slightly thicker oil. I have yet to buy oil to replenish loss. Current levels are more than fine.
3. In the last two weeks Vic has endured about a half a dozen instances of short and slight engine misfiring. Engine recovers immediately. This has occurred when it is raining out and when weather is exceptionally damp. Vehicle repair/work history shows no replacement of spark plugs or wires in the last five years and beyond. May just need new plugs and wires.
4. Phantom warm engine stall. Five minutes after stall, engine fires right back up and easily drives for another 10 min or 5’ish miles before stalling again. This process just repeats itself. One time, when I was ~15miles away from home base, it took me about three stalls before making it back to my driveway. Current status of troubleshooting: 1)Air and vacuum has been fully checked out, cleaned, and cleared of issues. 2)Fuel delivery has also been inspected and fully cleared of issues (this involved replacing a dying in-tank fuel pump). 3)Applicable wiring, sensors, switches, relays, and grounds are currently being inspected for possible warm engine interruptions of circuits due to expansion. I have a solid hit-list of known targets to focus on, so if I'm lucky this won't take long or much money to fix.
