HISTORY: Previas were the perfect mini-van: aerodynamically designed to provide 6-cylinder power from 4 cylinders - the first slant engine design for increased power and longevity. Previas were very popular but Toyota stopped making them after only 7 years (1990-97) because they were so trouble free that they rarely came back into the shop for routine maintence. All Toyotas have always been dependable and reliable, but they made the Previa a little too well. They were losing money from the lack of the normal amount of shop time. They solved the problem by replacing the Previa with the Sienna. The Camry was renown as the best made car in the world (at that price point). So they took Camry's engine and transmission and built the new Sienna mini-van.
