Recently bought this 1992 F150 Short bed truck out of Newport TN....bought it from a lady that said her dad owned this truck since new and she inherited it when he passed. Truck still has the original owners manual in the glove box. She said it was used occasionally since he passed, but not much. She finally decided to sell it instead of just letting it sit. I brought it home as a keeper, but have decided I'd rather have a 4 door truck instead. I'll tell you all I can about this truck
The truck is not new obviously, but in my opinion is really good in all the right places. Namely, there is almost no rust on this truck. Take a look at the pictures of the rocker panels, cab corners, and bed. There is some surface rust on the hood and roof, but it's just surface rust. I was going to primer it gray, but decided it would be best to let next buyer see the original paint and just how solid it is and not cover it up. Has a great patina just like it is, but would also look great in matte black or gray primer. Truck is very straight and true. I'm not even going to wash it or clean it, next owner can do that.
Interior is decent for the age. Dash has some cracks and such, carpet dirty, but not all torn up at all. I'm not even going to clean it up, I'll let the next owner do that. It's an XLT, so has power windows and door locks and cruise control. The radio doesn't seem to work. Missing the little knob that turns heat/cool, but can get those online for $10.
Mechanical- it's got the V8 302 original motor, and again, check out the miles on the truck in the pic. Unbelievable that it's not even turned 100K. Automatic Transmission. Push button 4WD, and seems to work fine. Starts right up every time....When I bought it she said it had been sitting for 6 months, and it started right up first time. I think it's got a small exhaust leak, but it's not hurting a thing and runs just fine.
This will be a great truck like it is, or I can definitely see someone lifting it and spending a little on it to improve it, just because it's so solid. Have a clean TN title in hand.
Please don't reply unless you have the cash to buy this truck. Don't need help selling it, and save the low ball offers if you don't mind. Sorry, not looking for trades. I don't have tag OR insurance on the truck, but I can take you for a short drive to see it move and such. Won't respond to "do you still have this truck". Been around a while so know most of the scams. Just a good old Ford truck that I think will make someone a good truck.
