Used 1991 Toyota Pickup 4x4 Chinook Camper for sale in Christiansburg, VA
Vehicle Description
22RE engine was rebuilt ~40K miles ago during the previous owner's reign. However, it runs rough, possibly a vacuum leak and/or a busted timing chain guide. I'd suggest non-local buyers bring a trailer to pick it up.
The truck has lots of new parts, including head gasket, radiator, water pump, exhaust work, A/T tires, upper control arms, lots of little things like belts and hoses, etc. Fresh oil in engine and front/rear diff. Comes with parts I bought but didn't get around to putting on: Tundra front brake upgrade (199mm), front and rear KYB gas-a-just shocks, 200 AH house battery with smart isolator and cables, some miscellaneous bits and bobs. The 4WD works like a boss, hubs lock manually. Virginia inspection good until 08/21.
The 1978 Chinook Gazelle camper was gutted from the ceiling trim down and reinsulated with 1" foam board and foam spray. Interior is primitive but cozy with a storage bench/sleeping platform and kitchen counter. Plenty of storage. No propane tank or wiring. Original canvas was patched last summer, mesh windows in front and rear unzip. There's a bit more than 6' of head room with the top popped. The roof sags but doesn't leak.
Here's what I didn't get around to fixing: The steering is sloppy. Lower control arm on the passenger side is bent, causing the vehicle to pull to the right. Dummy dash lights don't work (check engine, brights, brake, etc) but all other dash lights do. Oil leak from the oil pump - parts to replace the front main seal are included. Aforementioned vacuum leak/broken timing chain guide (this happened after I decided to sell and haven't looked into it). There's some rust under the paint the previous owner put on the frame - I went around with a screw driver and hammer and it's solid except for one hole the size of a dime (pictured - it's just under the passenger-side door) and where a heat shield is trying to make a break for it just over the driver's side front axle. The rust isn't rot, but needs to be addressed before it grows. The camper needs a paint job - I have some I'd be happy to throw into the sale. Upper windows in the camper have a small leak. Sounds like a lot, I'm just laying it all out clean so potential buyers know what they're getting into. Everything else works like it should.
