Vehicle Description
A nice example of the timeless W126 body style - part of the flagship S-Class lineup made from 1979-1991. It has the M116 4.2L V8 engine. A popular car for transporting dignitaries and world leaders in its day.
Mechanically, it's really in surprising condition for it's age and mileage (259,000). It starts and runs smoothly and quietly. Has newer Michelin tires. Hasn't left any drips in the driveway and doesn't seem to consume any fluids. The bearing on the clutch for the engine cooling fan makes noise until it warms up. It hasn't been driven much so the brake rotors are a bit rusty and the back brakes drag a bit. Wouldn't take much to restore the original brake feel. As far as suspension goes, it's definitely smooth; it handles like a boat (may benefit from new shocks?)
As far as the interior goes, it's also in excellent condition. Lots of leather and wood grain. The seats, carpet, and headliner are all in great shape. Has the original factory radio which still works, along with the power antenna. Climate control works great, including the A/C. Has a ton of bells and whistles inside, all of which are in working order, to include the power mirror, power head rests, power memory seats, sunroof (could use some lubrication), and more.
Exterior-wise, the car is in great shape with no major body damage. All the body panels line up straight, and the paint looks to be original all around, so I don't think it has ever been in a collision. The front bumper has some pitting on it from sand and road debris, and the paint is bubbling a little on the driver front fender. The windshield has a crack along the bottom, but it does not obstruct the view of the road.
