Used 1989 SAAB 9000 2.0 Turbo 138,000 miles - cars & trucks - by owner -... for sale in Harrisonburg, VA
Vehicle Description
The car has plenty of life left in it, but for the last two years I have been chasing a transmission gremlin on-and-off and frankly I do not have the time for it anymore with an increasing workload and other hobbies. I have more about this chronicle of hope, work and confusion in the bowels of this machine at the bottom of the ad if you’re interested in finding out more about this SAAB’s sole ailment.
The engine is in great shape, plenty of new parts in the engine bay, regular oil changes, no sludge, tires in good shape but the ones on the left of the car have slow leaks.
The interior and exterior can be a bit rough in some places, but all the things that have to work do indeed work, such as the power seats, power windows, radio and climate control, even the sun roof. No underneath rust! I’m sure we can agree the car could use a new layer of paint on a panel or two.
I am the second owner and have all 30+ years of paperwork and three keys. No accidents for the old-timer except a for a ding on the back which happened while the previous owner had it.
I am in absolutely no rush to sell it and may end up deciding to give it another go, since I am pretty attached to the car, so not interested in haggling here at all. $750 firm.
Also, really looking at selling this to someone who wants to get it back on the road. It would be a shame to rip apart what is so close to recovery when these cars, especially a first-generation 9000 turbo, let alone SAABs, which are getting more scarce by the day. If I remember correctly, only 7,000 SAAB 9000's were imported to the U.S. in 1989.
—Transmission issue
Air keeps getting in the transmission. How? I don’t know. I’ve had a shop [Foreign Car Service in Harrisonburg] replace the slave cylinder and the line rebuilt from the master to the slave, I’ve changed the master twice, after getting it rebuilt on the second go, and changed the line from the reservoir to the master multiple times. It'll work again for about three or four days and then you have to bleed the system again.
