Used 1988 classic SAAB 900 Turbo Convertible SiS! for sale in Chelan, WA

I have finally resigned myself to the fact that i just have too many cars!
This 1988 SAAB is pre-GM, so a ‘real’ SAAB.
In 1988, SAAB put out around 288 special edition models, which they dubbed Springtime in Sweden. They are essentially a standard turbo convertible, but only delivered in black, with black roofs, and buffalo grey leather. They also sported the ‘SPG’ body panels, or ground effects. They were not ‘numbered’ cars, but simply had a small badge on the glovebox door. This car does not have the badge. It does, however, have the correct paint and body codes for this package, and the SPG body panels are a factory fit.
The 1988 model 900 turbo is arguably the best model they made, as it does not have the problematic ABS brake and SRS system that the later cars had, but has the newer wheel stud pattern that started that year.

What is good about this one?
Koni adjustable shock absorbers, with SPG springs.
New brakes all around.
New Firestone Indy 500 tires, on the 16” ‘AERO’ wheels.
Nice leather.
Nice roof, just a few years old.
Full ‘CE’ performance package. This includes the Mitsubushi TE05 turbo, 10 bar intercooler, 010 distributor, larger aluminum turbo plumbing, red APC box, 2.8 Bar FPR. Turbo boosts very well.
Excellent 5 speed transmission. Doesn’t pop out of reverse (or any gear), doesn’t whine, doesn’t grind into gears, etc.
Recent clutch.
Recent fuel pumps.
Many, many parts replaced.
Virtually no rust!
Cruise control works.
Great fuel economy (close to 30mpg).
I think i actually have all the service history for this car from new. Have to dig through my stuff!

Not so good:
The body is far from perfect. It looks good, but has several door dings, and paint flaws. Again, it looks good, but will never be a show quality car.
The car actually has around 240k, but the speedo and facia has been replaced, and shows about 100k less.
The engine is definitely getting up there in the mileage department, but still runs strong. I have driven this car across countrty a couple of times in the last few years, and would not hesitate to do it again! The turbo is a much newer unit, so does not smoke and spools well. I have a engine and transmission from a 135k 1989 that i plan to put in. I drove that car to CA before pulling the motor, so i know it is great.
The drivers rear corner of the roof needs to be restapled.
The bumper covers are not great, desperately need a repaint.
The dash has some cracks. They all do, and this one isn’t terrible.
I will continue to improve this car while i own it, so the price will go up as things change.

Would love to see this car go to a enthusiast. Several of these have sold for in excess of $30k, so this may be one of the last opportunities to get an affordable driver.
