Used 1985 Toyota Celica GTS convertible - cars & trucks - by owner -... for sale in Marietta, GA

I picked up this 1985 Toyota Celica GTS convertible in late 2018 to restore and relive my teenage years. The car is solid and just needed small cosmetic repairs and some minor mechanical services, mostly just due to age. Low mileage at just over 92,000.

The 2.4-liter 22R-E inline-four has electronic fuel injection and an automatic transmission. The GT-S convertible was built by ASC in California and my car is super black over a gray/blue cloth interior with body-color fender flares, black trim and mirrors, pop-up headlights and power antenna. GT-S models were factory equipped with an independent rear suspension and disc brakes at each corner.

The cabin features sport seats upholstered in gray/blue cloth with patterned inserts and door panels. Interior has power windows, locks, mirrors, air conditioning, cruise control, seatbelts for four, and a three-piece convertible top boot (that boot is becoming rare and valuable) Factory radio does not really work well though cassette may and speakers prob are aged. Many newer Toyota radios can be easily adapted into the double din space.

This 22R-E engine is bulletproof. The engine and transmission are in great condition. I have done a lot of mechanical refurbishing as detailed below.

I have receipts for over $4000 on repairs and refurbishing. Many items I serviced just due to age. I replaced all rubber, gaskets, belts, hoses, and fluids.

Both lower control arms with bushings and ball joints, brake lines at all four corners, motor mounts, new radiator and fan blade with fresh antifreeze, thermostat and radiator hoses.

Valve cover gasket with oil and filter change and oil pan gasket.

Transmission fluid flush and change with a new trans pan gasket and filters.

Fuel filter, pcv valve, spark plugs, air filter, all drive belts

New battery and a 4 wheel alignment

I also have a brand new car cover ($165), repair manual, and many new and used parts ($200+) I have the owners manual and convertible manual. I just located and purchased new side window seals, but have not installed.

Power mirrors do not work and is a common failure on these cars.

Hood needs to be resprayed or replaced.

Roof fabric is good shape. Rear glass needs to the stiched back clpsed. Power top and latches operate normally.

Car is an excellent driver and still has a few things that can be restored further if you like or just enjoy as is. I have owned many Toyotas and would drive it anywhere.

No title and sold only on a bill of sale. Titles and Emissions are not required for 1985. No problem to register, tag, and insure. I have ownership info on the prior 2 owners.

I have nearly $9000 in this car. I have seen some cars sell in the $12-13,000 range. With a few more refurbishments this is an $8500+ car.
