Up for sale is a 1985 XR4TI turbo.

The Merkur XR4Ti is a high-performance 3-door hatchback sold in North America from 1985 to 1989. A product of the Ford Motor Company, the car was a version of the European Ford Sierra XR4i adapted to US regulations.

The car is basically a rear wheel drive turbo Ford Escort with independent rear suspension.

This has the 2.3 L turbo T-Bird motor that was also used in the SVT Mustang.
The XR4Ti really marked the start of Ford's quest to squeeze as much power as possible out of a 4-cylinder engine through the use of turbocharging. This quest for power in the Merkur/Sierra line culminated in the fire-breathing Sierra RS500, which could pump out 600hp in race trim from its 2-liter engine.

There are known examples of this car making over 500 rear wheel horsepower on the stock long block.

With an upgraded turbo and fuel system this car would be a beast.

The stock turbo is supposed to be able to produce close to 400 rear wheel horsepower reliably.
This car ran great a few years ago and it’s just been sitting in the yard, you will probably have to drain the tank and put new fuel in it.

This car has no rust, I just want to sell it before it starts deteriorating from sitting in my yard.
