Used 1981Datsun/Nissan Deluxe King Cab diesel truck - - by for sale in Bluff City, TN

This is a 1981 Datsun/Nissan model 720 diesel pick-up truck with the extended cab and passenger, fold down jump seats (and ladder rack).
These little trucks, with the smaller diesel engines, are almost IMPOSSIBLE to find these days. From what I have learned, people in other countries have sent letters to all the small diesel truck owners, in the U.S., trying to buy them back and have them shipped to South Africa, Japan, etc. where the fuel prices are much higher. I know this to be a fact because I have received one of those letters and have spoken to others who have also received letters offering to buy their small diesels. Since this little rascal is rated to get 44 MPG, I can understand their interest. Now, they are just about impossible to find. It took me two years of searching before I found this one. Please, feel free to do your own research. I searched using Face Book Market Place and Craigslist nation wide (and Canada).
Here is a general discription on the truck:
- Engine has 180K miles and runs perfectly. Starts right up in hot or cold weather. Absolutely leaks or burns no oil whatsoever. I have taken it on several semi-long trips (ie: to Knoxville, Asheville etc.) and it ran perfectly.
- 2.2 liter diesel, four cylinder engine (as opposed to the other (Mazda, V.W., etc) which have the 1.6 liter, and, to me, they are way too small and sluggish. This little truck is actually quite "peppy. Similar to a gasoline engine.
-This truck is the "Deluxe" model which has the extended cab, with the extra passenger, fold down jump seats. (Which, to me, was a bonus, since it would be an ideal place to install the extra fuel tank if a person wanted to convert this truck over to bio-fuel. I feel that it would be a perfect candidate to switch over, since it doesn't have the aggravating computer).
- 5 speed tranny which also operates perfectly.The clutch is strong and has never slipped.
- The truck now has around 180K miles which may change since it is still a daily driver. Some of these small diesels are known to get well over 500K miles if they are treated right.
-Sliding rear window with right and left, pop-out rear windows.
- * This truck also comes with a sturdy ladder rack. Nothing is wrong with it. I just decided that since I am retired, I would probably not use it. So, I removed it. It's in good shape and can be bolted right up to the truck if needed.
- The truck has rear air shocks that work perfectly. Air them up if you are going to be hauling a very heavy load.
Let the air out if you are just normally riding around for a smoother ride.
- Also comes with the original owner's manual, original jack and accessories, etc.
- Stored, not driven for seven years.
I've had several of these smaller diesel trucks and have always liked them. They are super cheap to drive and are pretty much trouble-free. Back when I had my business, I would always have one of these smaller diesels for a company truck. They just about last forever!
But now, I have retired and just don't need the truck.
This truck would be an ideal father and son restoring project. And, since they are almost impossible to find, it is a great investment. The body is a tad rough with the small dents and rust places, but is repairable. The engine and transmission (complete running gear) operates perfectly. This is, without a doubt, the smoothest running, most dependable vehicle that I have ever owned!
