Used 1976 Wagoneer - cars & trucks - by owner - vehicle automotive sale for sale in Trappe, MD

Up for consideration is a 1976 Wagoneer that needs a new home. It has a strong and smooth running 360 equipped with the original and working quadratrac transfer case that basically is the first type of on demand AWD unit that was used mainstream in an American made vehicle and it features a working vacuum activated switch that engages both front and rear axles when the path gets a little sticky. The carpet and headliner was previously removed and it has front and rear vinyl covered bench seats. All the glass is intact and functional including the electric rear window. I purchased the Jeep back in 2011 and had “big plans” for it back then. I went all through it and replaced all the vacuum lines, fuel lines, gave it a complete tune-up (plugs, filters, fluids, etc...) along with installing /replacing the following: starter, starter solenoid, battery cables, fuel pump, water pump, coolant hoses, thermostat, master cylinder, etc... In addition to those items being replaced, the original distributor was replaced with a new H.E.I. unit and coil and I put a new stock style exhaust system on it as well. After these improvements, it was a really good running and dependable driving vehicle. I probably put all of 1,000 miles on it between 2011 and now just driving it here and there and in the snow a few times when we used to get snow in the winters...

All said, it’s pretty mechanically sound and has unlimited potential, but needs someone with fresh interest, time and so forth to take it to the next levels. It’s definitely a really cool vehicle and part of me just wants to hang on to it, but doing so will mean it just sitting around and nothing happening with it. With a mechanically inclined person, it could easily be a running and safely driving work in progress after a weekends worth of going over. The tires will hold air, but should be replaced. The brakes work, but should have a thorough going over. It could probably use new shocks too. The included pictures show the condition of the body. Underneath, the frame is unpainted and has typical surface rust, but it’s sound and not rotten. All the exterior stainless and aluminum trim is in good shape.

All in all, it’s pretty much all there and pretty much everything works including the heat, the stock radio, etc...

I also have a spare hood in good condition along with some additional exterior trim and a additional N.O.S. vacuum switch for the AWD/4WD system that I will include with the sale if I get the full asking price.
