Used 1973 MGB Runs Great for sale in Aurora, IL
Vehicle Description
This is a great running very original and not-terribly-molested MGB, much more solid than most you will find (WAY more solid than any you will find at this price), mechanically GREAT condition, but it does show its age all over: Paint - faded, a bit chipped; Interior - a bit shabby, but comfy enough as British cars go; Chrome - okay, but won't win any awards; Tires - old but usable; Engine Bay - dingy & dirtyish; Fun Factor - AWESOME! Plus, it still looks GREAT blasting along the backroads, which is what you're supposed to be doing with it.
The good stuff: motor has great oil pressure (50PSI at idle) and good compression; this was one of the last years before they choked the life out of them with the worst of the emissions stuff, still a peppy performer. Transmission is stock 4-speed, shifts fine, no unusual driveline noises. Body is quite solid - there's surface rust on the trunk and floorpans but no perforations except for a small hole on the passenger side floorboard (shown in pics), engine bay and almost all other areas have no notable rust - the natural exception is the quarter panels just ahead of the rear wheel openings where every MGB is rusted (they came from the factory that way, didn't they?). The charging system isn't working properly right now but I should have that fixed before you get here to see it, other than that the gages and electrics mostly work (I don't recall what, if anything, doesn't work specifically, but being British you can be sure that even if it all works now there'll be something wrong soon enough.).
Comes with hard AND soft top and the STOCK MGB WHEELS AND TIRES pictured; the 5-spoke alloy wheels with lo-profile tires are $400 extra if you want them.
This car is an ideal "Restore-As-You-Drive" candidate, and now that Spring is here you should absolutely be driving it.
