Used 1968 Austin America MkII - - by dealer - vehicle for sale in San Francisco, CA
Vehicle Description
This nicely preserved, maintained, and presented 1968 Austin America Mk II could rightly be considered a roomier and more usable version of the game-changing Mini. While far from well-known today in North America, our subject vehicle and the entire ADO16 line ranks firmly among Britain’s most popular cars of all time. They not only look great overall, with a fun and purposeful character, but they’re a ball to drive. While these otherwise finely engineered cars did have a horrible tendency to rust, this one looks as clean and exceptionally rust-free underneath as it does up top, consistent with Californian ownership of an unspecified duration. BMC and BL enjoyed a good deal of success in North America in the 1950s and 1960s and only corporate misadventures and sour labor relations forced BL to retreat to its home market and killed the once giant company by 1980. Regardless, this is a fun and interesting automobile with great roots and nice condition, not to mention a considerable investment recently made in its mechanical fitness. Relatively affordable to many potential buyers, it's well-suited to an enthusiastic end user who will hopefully enjoy and preserve it as originally intended.
