Used 1965 Datsun Roadster Fairlady 1500 RARE - cars & trucks - by owner -... for sale in Lawrenceville, GA

There were only 1,250 Datsun roadsters built in 1965. There are many 1964 "leftovers" that were sold in 1965. At that time dealers would stamp the VIN plate with the year that the car was sold not necessarily the year the car was built. I have checked the VIN number and verified this one was built in 1965. It has the original 1500cc engine, ID plate and title.

The previous owner had shaved and filled the door handles, door window openings, antenna and body trim mounting holes. The rear panel also had the gas filler opening filled in and had made some severe modifications to the tail light mounting holes. I would say that the body needs to be completely stripped and to start the body work over. The floor is in solid condition except the drivers section where there are some panels to fix the typical issues caused by leaking brake fluid. I see no evidence of any previous accidents.

I replaced the rear panel with a correct 1965 rear panel. and that's where the project stopped for me. I did start the engine for a short period of time but I have never driven the car. The compression tested good with more than 180psi on all cylinders - dry

I have collected numerous spare parts for the car. some of these include;
A fiberglass hard top
Extra doors, fenders, hoods and trunks
Seats, armrest, dashboard, gauges, toggle switches, glove box inserts
Original radio, heater cores.
Extra body trim parts, trunk hinges, external lighting
Spare soft top frames, windows and window regulators
Gas caps with keys, door handles and locks with keys
Steering wheel with original horn button
Wiring harness, alternator and starter
additional 4-spd transmission
New unused rear brake cylinders and shoes, additional used brake drums for front and rear.
New bracket kit for using Volvo Calipers (calipers not included) includes machined rotors from a Nissan Altima
Hubs and control arms from a '66 and later disk brake equipped Roadster
New Clutch master cylinder and clutch cylinder - correct version for this engine
New clutch disk
New Brake master cylinder - single circuit
New OEM muffler
New OEM fuel filters - for original "glass bowl" fuel filter (included)
rear differential with taller gear ratios - stronger than the original and better for hwy use.

What I know is missing;
Carpeting, soft top, hub caps, trunk liner, tool kit, owners manual

I also have a completely rebuilt 1600cc engine. Correct engine for '66 up Roadster
This will only be included in the $5,750 price. If you want to negotiate on the price I will may take the engine off of the table.
This engine has never been run. it includes;
a rebuilt head - new valves, springs, seals. Air injection ports have been plugged with inserts.
new pistons and rings
possible competition cam - need to remove cam gear to verify
new crank bearings - possible 1500cc crank for increasing stroke - need to verify
polished valve cover

This is a truly a rare car that deserves the time and attention that it will take to get it back on the road. I have limited time and cannot finish the project.
