Used 1957 Ford Thunderbird Convertible (2-tops) California Survivor -... for sale in El Paso, TX
Vehicle Description
This is a California survivor car that has never been restored------------it's in exceptional condition considering its age, but as with any old car has a few maintenance issues worthy of attention to keep it the rare survivor that it is.
Unlike many survivors, this car is quite nice. The paint is in good shape, undamaged, and a color not often seen which has come back into vogue. Reportedly Willy Nelson owns the twin to this car also a CA survivor etc.
Exterior body is straight, undamaged, and in great shape. No Collision Damage or rust except for dry rust patina observed to undercarriage.
The Interior Seats are showing some wear and while decent, could stand to be recovered. Seat covers are readily available to these Tri-five baby birds and are inexpensive. The seat cushion foam has just settled with age over the years, otherwise only minor bolster wear to edges. Carpet looks great. Only light fading is apparent.
The Hardtop is white in color and in great shape. The headliner of the hardtop has some thinning at the seams and can probably use replacement by now. It's perfectly presentable and useable as-is, but replacement is in its future as a wear-item with age.
Mechanically the engine is strong. Carb recently rebuilt. Car does not smoke. Transmission shifts thru all detents just fine.
The owner is a life-long T-bird club member and has relocated to El Paso, TX and can be seen there. This car may surprise you for just how nice it is for its rare color and condition. These "baby birds" continue to be wildly popular with collectors and range in value from $25k to $100k for the Amos Minter highly restored examples. This car is described and priced very fairly and offers the next owner years of problem-free driving and yet can do some subjective improvements cost effectively with time. No disappointments. The Owner would tell you that you can buy this car now and drive it anywhere. Car is only being sold as the owner has health woes that require he get his affairs in order.
