One owner 1967 Austin Healey 3000 MK III BJ8 in Ivory White over Black Leather and one of the very last to be produced.

Just out of the estate of the original and only family ever getting the opportunity to enjoy this Austin Healey 3000. Ordered new in 1966 from a dealer in Saigon while stationed there in Vietnam as a Lt. Colonel in the USAF (later becoming a full Colonel as the car was being delivered new) as an intended Christmas present for his wife who was stateside in Norfolk Virginia. Has been a South Carolina car ever since.

This is likely one of the most original and well documented Austin Healeys in existence. All documentation and correspondence from the original dealer in Saigon, communication to BMC in the UK, customs information for delivery, delivery dealership distribution, owner acceptance, complete maintenance history from new till today and everything in between is available for this car. A few photo examples are included for reference. A complete and comprehensive history file, original owners manual as well as a current British Motor Industry Heritage Trust Certificate will be provided. Documentation confirms all numbers matching and that the car is today the way that it was when it left the factory and was delivered in January 1967.

This is not a restored car or one that has been made to look like one by some unscrupulous dealer. This is an almost completely original beautifully running and driving time capsule from 1967. There has been one repaint from the early 80's in correct Ivory (Old English) White due to a minor fender bender. This was completely documented as well. The car has been driven sparingly since, so the paint is essentially perfect today with nary a blemish to be found. Of course there is not and never has been any rust whatsoever. Original factory ordered Black Leather seating and accompanying interior is predominantly original as well. Top looks new with supple vinyl, clear rear window and includes a nice factory black tonneau cover. The spare wheel still retains its original factory fitted white wall tire.

The initial factory order and build list as specified by the Lt. Colonel are present (photo included) showing original and very rare ordered options like Hide Interior (Leather), Luggage Rack, Radio, White Wall tires, Cigar Lighter, Fender Mirror, Locking Gas Cap and even factory applied Underbody Sealant. Everything documented from day one as ordered and delivered. Keep in mind this car was built specifically for the wife of the Lt. Colonel and not as a dealer inventory order. To find these options as factory ordered and installed is almost unheard of.

Mechanically the car runs and drives beautifully with everything including the Overdrive, working exactly as it should. Something not often expected from a car of this era. However, having only 38,000 documented miles (also documented on the title) and being essentially new from 1966, it is not hard to understand why this one does.

Something can be said for the saying “they are only original once”. This Austin Healey is the epitome of that. It would be difficult to find a more original better documented one owner 1967 Austin Healey with this history in ANY condition.
