“Weekender” = bench seat/bed, closet, table, aft facing seat, pop-up tent, upper berth and no kitchen
Manual transmission
169,000 miles
Replaced engine with rebuilt VW engine and replaced tires at 161,000 miles. Runs well however have found out that one cylinder of this "new" engine has weak compression now.
New starter (and grounding strap)
Battery app’x 2 years old
Good tire tread
After market Kenwood stereo w/CD and USB & AUX plug-ins
Seats 6 (driver & “shotgun” w/armrests), Sleeps 4
Original curtains and upholstery (no smokers)
Table – hinges up or down to stow, cup holders @ back seats only
Aft cabinets
“Tent” in good condition
I’ve taken good care of this highly desired “cult-classic” van. This vehicle is in good clean condition. Body, paint and bumpers shine. Only minor body dings – all repaired.
Everything works…except:
fuel gauge inop (trip-odometer works, refuel within 200 miles of last fill);
aft heater radiator leaks – bypassing it and forward one is adequate;
am using a dowel to lock the window in the sliding door.
Along with the road-trip and camping adventures this van made possible, I have enjoyed being a member of the VW van tribe for ten years. I hope you will too.
