An economical compact with an air of luxury �€" Hemmings, November 2018 More on the Omega from Hemmings: The last letter of the Greek alphabet, Omega, translates as 'great O.' Arriving for 1973, Oldsmobile's Omega was one of General Motors' compact cars that satisfied the 'N-O-V-A' acronym of Nova, Omega, Ventura, and Apollo. Given its upscale appointments, and the fact it was an Oldsmobile, the Omega was the great O of the X-body quadruplets. Offered here is a 1976 Oldsmobile Omega in Light Blue Metallic (code 28L) over white. Showing 94,967 miles on its odometer, or just over 2,100 miles per-year on average since new. The extremely well-documented survivor was purchased from Cooper Chevrolet-Oldsmobile in Eaton Rapids, Michigan, and was most recently acquired from an Oldsmobile museum. A completely original and high-spec car, now showing some patina from age, this is authentic-time-capsule Oldsmobile history. The Light Blue Metallic exterior paint shows very well on some body panels, while having suffered some delamination and fading (especially on the roof on the driver's side, trunk lid, and hood) and some minor flaws on the driver's door and trunk lid. The left-front fender shows slightly wrinkled sheet metal. The car has never been repainted in order to preserve originality. Chrome bumpers, grille, headlight trim, and cabin-glass trim are all in very good condition with little, if any, patina. Cabin glass and lighting lenses are clear and undamaged. Factory badging is complete and in good condition including: the Oldsmobile script badge and grille emblem, Omega and Oldsmobile-logo fender emblems, Oldsmobile-script trunk emblem, and Oldsmobile logos in the taillight lenses. The original selling-dealer's sticker is also still in place. Stock steel wheels (with aftermarket, disc-style, chrome full-wheel covers) are mounted with BFGoodrich® Radial T/A raised-white-letter tires. Factory-original full-wheel covers are included in the sale. The Omega's upscale interior has been very well-kept. Handsome door trim incorporates white vinyl, woodgrain trim, and blue lower-door carpet treatments together with a script Omega badge. Stylish white-vinyl-trimmed upholstery with vertically pleated fabric inserts covers the front high-back buckets and rear bench seat. Cabin carpets (protected with rubber mats in front), the package shelf, and safety belts are medium-blue in color. A blue, two-spoke, Oldsmobile-emblem steering wheel (showing some discoloration from use) frames the standard instruments on the woodgrain-trimmed blue dash. Vertical slide-lever controls operate the HVAC controls and a Pioneer® audio head unit is mounted in place of the factory radio. The floor-mounted shift lever for the rare 5-speed manual transmission includes the shift pattern on the knob. The car is equipped with power steering and power brakes.
